This is the newest company of Sarandí Group. Located in Uruguay, distributes Brother products in the uruguayan market. It also trades paper internationally.
By the late 80s, Convenor represented Sarandí Group's first incursion in the paper conversion industry. The beginning of activities took place in early 1989, in the city of La Rioja; a 3,200 sq m industrial plant was built for that, reaching later -by successive enlargements- today's covered surface of 6,500 sq m. It possesses high technology equipment that allows at present to process more than 1,500 T of paper a month. Among its main products stand out the notebooks, paper sheet stacks, paper pads, school articles and envelopes, all them traded under brands like Líder, 1810 and Magisterio, among others.
In the year 2001, Convenor S.A. extended its client base, basing on many external markets like the USA, Germany, Costa Rica and Cuba, each and every one of them a great potential growth opportunity. That same year, and thanks to important investments made in order to optimise the plant's performance, Convenor S.A. undersigned commercial agreements as licensed company for important international brands. Disney and Mattel (Barbie), along with other recognized local franchise permits, allowed the company to reach a distinguished and highlighted role regarding its competitors. The above-mentioned operations provided the Company with an enlargement and diversification of its product mix, placing it in a position never reached before in the Argentine market.
Founded in 1996, Leviand S.A. represents the Group's first investment in fruits and horticultural activity. Its first steps consisted in setting up for conditioning 250 hectares of land located in Zonda valley (San Juan province, Argentina) and covering them with grapes, plums and damasks, which production was fundamentally aimed to international markets like Europe and Asia. Later, in the department 25 de Mayo, 150 hectares of land were acclimatized for production of wine grapes. As for the red wine varieties, the grape species cultivated are Cabernet, Syrah and Malbec, whereas Chardonnay is for white wine.
In the year 2005, a new farm was acquired in the Ullum valley, with similar characteristics to those of Zonda; its 110-hectare extension is destined to grape and plum growing. All the farms are provided with cutting-edge Israeli technology, including dripping irrigation systems
In 1995, aiming at optimising the development of the Company's forest resources, Ybirá sawmill was inaugurated in the Misiones province, 20 km away from the Brazilian border. The factory sees 3,500 tons of Elliotti pine, taeda and araucaria rolls enter its facilities every month, coming mostly from the 1,400-hectare re-forestation fields started by the Group in 1971.
It is important to emphasize that every annual re-forestation performed is at least equivalent to the tree cut surface for the same period. The current production level of the factory amounts to 550,000 sq ft, being the staff 75 people.
Since 2001, most of the production is sent to international markets, especially the USA, and more modern equipment has been recently acquired as to add value to traded production.
In 2005, with the intention of adapting the production capacity to increasing volumes and great native wood diversity, the company made new investments in full. At present, Ybirá is the biggest and most modern native wood cutting mill in all Misiones province.
A society constituted in 1967 by Papelera Sarandí and Central National Gottesman (USA). CNG is one of the most renowned paper and cellulose distributors in the world. Varcent's main activity consists in paper trading, most of it imported, for newspapers, magazines and other publishing means.
Apart from traditionally paper producing countries like the USA or Canada, Varcent imports from countries like Russia, Slovenia and South Africa.
A Group's partnership with Uruguayan businessmen, setting up the firm Color Cells S.A., symbolizes its constant progress will, and emphasizes the determination of its business diversification towards technological fields.
This way, Color Cells has become the exclusive representative for the Argentine Republic of Sharp copiers and office equipment (calculators, fax machines, video projectors, etc.), and distributes its wide range of products along with Riso, a duplication equipment products line.
In September 2003, by incorporating three new partners, a new 35,120-hectare property was acquired along with special equipment for developing of native woods in the fields.
The activity of the company is carried under strict forest mass conservation norms. The native wood exploited at the plantation (Incense, Cedar, Red Anchico and Guatambú) is mainly destined to satisfy demand from international markets on floor woods and other products.
This company owns exclusive representation of Canon products for Uruguay. Its main activity is renting and selling copiers, as well as sale of printers, fax machines, scanners, cameras and video projectors.
